Physiological effects

• Cardiosan^® contains a combination of three B vitamins that are important for the well-being of the heart – folate, vitamin B6 and B12 – and magnesium, which supports the performance of the heart. This combination of three B vitamins promotes homocysteine metabolism as well as the normal functioning of the immune system.
• The Quatrefolic^® folate in Cardiosan^® is a bioactive form of folic acid (L-methyl folate) that works directly in the body without the need for enzymes to convert it to the active form.
• Folate promotes normal amino acid synthesis and normal blood formation. In addition, it participates in the process of cell division, promotes tissue growth during pregnancy, and helps reduce fatigue and exhaustion.
• Magnesium, vitamin B6 and B12 promote normal energy metabolism and help reduce fatigue and exhaustion.
• Homocysteine is a sulfur-containing amino acid that is in the bloodstream in several different forms. About 90% of homocysteine is protein bound. It is formed through enzyme functions e.g. amino acid from methionine and disappears from the body along the same enzyme pathways. Disorders of enzyme function (hereditary) or deficiencies of vitamins (folic acid, vitamins B6 and B12) lead to elevated levels of homocysteine in the body.
